Chronicle (still a working title, it should be noted) is planned for release on tablet and mobile platforms alongside PC and Mac from day one. Why should people take notice of yet another CCG/TCG that is coming along amid the horde of others? Besides the obvious tie to RuneScape that fans are sure to appreciate, there’s a unique twist to this game that sets it apart. Think card game meets board game sprinkled with RPG. Even though closed beta has officially ended, I had the chance to play it for a while as well as chat with Senior Producer Mark Killey and Lead Designer James Sweatman at a press event in the UK last week.

Fans attending this weekend's RuneFest were given a first look at the game, with lead designer James Sweatman saying "We've been quietly developing Chronicle: RuneScape Legends since the start of the year to ensure that it's not only a fun and compelling player experience, but one still very much interwoven into the rich lore of RuneScape. While summoned or used as a pet override, the pet can be interacted with to play an emote and receive a 5% experience boost for one hour.
This boost can be repeated throughout the event. This must be done by right clicking; doing the emote via the summoning medallion will not give the boost. That is not available to free players, but the lamps can still be obtained in free worlds. Runescape Legends. Set in the Runescape world of Gielinor, the game is played out on the pages of a "living book," which the studio says will allow players to "craft their own miniature RPGs" against computer-controlled enemies before striking out into PvP combat against other players. Even when it skittered across my desk last fall, it largely escaped my notice and I missed a chance to check out the closed beta (something I quite thoroughly regret now!).
